Pandemic, energy cost explosion, supply chain difficulties – there have been enough challenges for the industry in recent years. But it has not been discouraged, noted Philippe Beille of IFES and Vera Viehöfer of fwd. They observed global trends, developments and innovations and presented them to the audience.

How can events be designed efficiently and flexibly? What role does event marketing play today? What effect do customer experiences achieve and how do you create them? How can trade fair stands, pop-up stores and special areas be built effectively and sustainably?

These and similar questions were addressed by industry insiders from all over the world at the Expo + Event Stage.

International and sustainable: modern expo & event marketing

Expo + Event Stage 2023 was truly an international meeting place for the industry. Speakers came from several continents to report on trends from their countries and give practical examples.

For example, Annelize Hochmann of Diper Exhibitions spoke about Expo & Event Marketing in Latin America, Justin Hawes of Scan Display Solutions spoke about Africa, and Khalid Al Hammadi of DXB LIVE’s spoke about the Middle East. Paco Collazo (Happy Projects), Mark Johnson (Exhibitor Media Group), Chris Griffin (Trade Show Supply, CREW XP) and Steve Riches (Laguna Displays) were dedicated to the North American market.

Of course, the topic of sustainability was not neglected. The industry is working intensively on ways to organize and implement trade show appearances and events in a sustainable manner.

Jason Popp from Moss, for example, explained how the step towards a smaller CO2 footprint can be taken.

Jörg Zeißig from the Holtmann Group spoke about the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative and its potential impact on the event industry.

Reuse and recycling are also important topics. Nico Fontana from montECOlino presented a recycled carpet.

Dr. Christian Coppeneur-Gülz looked at how in-person events can be reinvented.

And Justin Hawes of Display Scan shared the “10 coolest things I’ve done in event greening” and his efforts to conserve resources and become more environmentally conscious in South Africa.
