Discovered on Holiday … Panaderia S’Estació Palma de Mallorca
Established as early as 1870, it has been synonymous with such Mallorcan delicacies as almond cake, ensaimada or panadés: the tradition-rich bakery Panadería S’Estació. It is located in a listed building right on the shopping mile Carrer del Sindicat and Plaça Sant Antoni in Palma but the interior design of this bakery is anything but antiquated.
Entering the bakery, you stand on a glazed floor that provides direct “vistas” of the baking room in the basement of the store and allows visitors to marvel at the dexterity of the “panaderos” as they craft innumerable pies, mini cakes, loaves of bread and other delicacies.
The long counter also scores points with modern elegance, combining exquisite wood and natural stone in warm brown shades with dark metal – as does the whole store interior. Accessories like historic artefacts and baking utensils arranged with loving attention to detail, both on the sales floor and in the seat-lined gallery, round off the inviting atmosphere. A feast for the eyes and palate not to be missed!
