We have asked our colleague Laura Hepworth, Global Portfolio Manager at International Trade Shows Link Ltd (UK Representative of Messe Düsseldorf), to tell us about her personal favourite stores and shopping habits in the UK. Laura Hepworth has been working for itsluk Ltd. since January 2017. She says: “Every lady loves a shopping trip, and here in the UK I like to take my shopping trips in London.”

Laura, what does a perfect shopping day for you looks like in London?

“A perfect shopping trip for me in London starts early with a refreshment in either a department store café, or a local coffee shop as I plan my shopping route for the day ahead. I then enjoy taking a leisurely stroll around the city, taking in the culture, architecture and the well-dressed windows and shop-floors of our iconic UK department stores; Selfridges, Harrods, Libertys and Fenwicks. What I love about these stores is their “wow factor”- invigorating all aspects and senses of their customer journey through their décor, visual merchandising, lighting and scents.”

What´s your favorite shop in the city at the moment and why?

“The famous of the department stores, Libertys, is one of my favourite London stores to explore. The exciting juxtaposition of luxurious modern products and displays set within a traditional Tudor style listed building provides for a sensational shopping experience. One moment you are perusing the latest fashions, or smelling the latest perfume, the next you are dazzled when admiring the longest chandelier in Europe as you wander the 4th floor. The combination of luxuries old and new provide for an indulgent feeling as you shop but also discover hidden heritage. The classic London department stores create a shopping trip with a difference which is why the stores have the footfall of so many people visiting from around the world.”

What do you prefer to buy online and what to buy in a brick and mortar store?

“With most stores now offering an online presence or shopping app it is fast becoming the way to shop, especially for people pressed for time or who know exactly what they want. I frequently purchase my cosmetics online from the brands I love and I am loyal too, as I know what I am getting. I will also shop online for electronic products, making the most of the customer reviews and ratings. However, when it comes to fashion, I still prefer the physical shopping experience, being able to see, touch and feel the products I am browsing.”
